Trump’s war chest hits $400 million – but he’s not sharing with fellow Republicans

President Donald Trump‘s super PAC has amassed massive amounts of cash on hand as of the end of last month, but his political operation has so far been hoarding his war chest.

MAGA Inc. has gathered more than $400 million, including $18 million since the start of June, but the fund remains largely untapped for direct spending on Republican midterm candidates, according to FEC filings posted Monday and reported by Politico.

NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman and billionaire brothers Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss are among the high-profile donors to the super PAC, bringing total fundraising this year to nearly $100 million. FEC filings show last month’s spending went toward consulting fees, bank fees, credit card payments, an online fundraising platform, and an event photographer — not candidate support. A MAGA Inc. spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The inaction comes as some Republicans grow anxious that Trump and his PAC are waiting too long to invest in competitive races, particularly amid a persistent GOP enthusiasm gap and an electorate concerned about cost-of-living pressures and an increasingly unpopular war in Iran.

James Blair, Trump’s chief political director, said last month that spending would eventually happen but declined to offer a timeline, dollar amount, or state-by-state strategy.

MAGA Inc. hasn’t directly funded a candidate race since March, when it gave $17,900.88 to Rep. Clay Fuller’s Georgia House campaign. Since then, its only major outlay was $560,000 to MAGA KY, which backed a successful primary challenger against Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY); that PAC has since terminated.

Republican donors have voiced growing frustration. Earlier this month, GOP figures told Politico they wished Trump would start spending the war chest, echoing similar concerns raised in May, when donors said they hoped for a spending roadmap by summer to avoid “mild panic” setting in.

That wait may continue. A senior White House official said last month that spending decisions don’t need to be finalized until after the GOP’s midterm convention, which begins Sept. 9 in Dallas.
