‘Quit being scared’: MAGA lawmaker demands more health care cuts to pay for war

A hardline MAGA Republican representing a battleground district has a blunt message for his fellow battleground colleagues: suck it up and take more money away from health care to pay for Trump’s war.

This comes as the House debates a package that would include $70 billion in new Pentagon funding and the inclusion of the SAVE America Act voting restrictions — all without offsetting the increased spending with any cuts.

According to Rep. Scott Perry (R-PA), this is unacceptable — but only the lack of cuts part.

Per CNN’s Sarah Ferris, Senate GOP lawmakers and House Republicans in other battleground districts “are warning House not to pay for this package with health care money,” not just because it would be unpopular but because it would trigger a round of procedural votes to amend the legislation that would only complicate everything further.

Perry’s response, she reported, was “Quit being scared and get to work.”

Perry, who became infamous as one of the most prominent 2020 election conspiracy theorists in Congress who helped President Donald Trump try to overturn the race, is facing one of the most difficult re-election campaigns, with local sources considering him the most vulnerable Republican congressional incumbent in Pennsylvania.
