Migrant suspected of murdering NY mom in Ireland was in country despite being denied asylum

The migrant boyfriend suspected of murdering New York mom Jamey Carney inside her Ireland home was allowed to stay in the country – even after being denied asylum, according to a report.

Irish authorities allowed Ahmad Al-Saqar, a Jordanian national, to stay in the Emerald Isles, even after his application for asylum was nixed by immigration authorities, according to the Irish Mirror.

Al-Saqar, who came to the country in 2024, was not required to leave after his application for asylum was rejected, as is customary in Ireland, the outlet reported.

It’s currently unclear why the accused killer’s asylum application was rejected, according to the report.

The lapse allowed Al-Saqar to stick around in the country – long enough for him to allegedly murder Carney.

The on-the-lam lover was in the process of appealing his asylum application when he hightailed it to Turkey, just before Carney was found beaten and suffocated inside her home.

Al-Saqar has been designated a person of interest by the gardaí, the Irish national police, in Carney’s murder.

Carney, a Westchester mom who moved to Ireland, was found dead by her teenage daughter in their Killerney home.  She was severely battered and beaten, then suffocated to death, according to a medical examination.

Al-Saqar, whom authorities are eyeing as the alleged killer, was a staunch pro-Palestinian activist who had married Carney in an Islamic wedding, according to friends.

Her beau had also asked for a hefty sum of $5,700 in the week before her murder, according to a friend of Carney’s.

Authorities are racing to catch the Jordanian national and question him about Carney’s death before he reaches his native land – which doesn’t have an extradition treaty with Ireland.
