Trump’s ‘absolute disgrace’ of a blunder could lead to a ‘disaster’ in November: analyst

President Donald Trump’s grandiose foreign policy promises have led him headlong into a disaster that he will face severe punishment for at the ballot box, longtime political strategist Chai Komanduri told MS NOW’s Ari Melber on Thursday.

Specifically, he argued, Trump led the public to believe he was creating peace with his actions in Iran — and instead he has simply brought the war of his own creation roaring back.

“I put it simply, because the old saying was in the Middle East, you can win the war … you could topple Saddam Hussein and lose the peace here,” said Melber.

That being the case, he continued, he asked if Komanduri agreed that “Trump has lost this war by its own metrics and appears now to be losing the peace and the ceasefire?”

Komanduri agreed, saying, “He started a war, and now he is losing it.”

Beyond that, he said, Trump has demonstrated “an inability … to execute the job of the presidency and be the steward of our foreign policy in a way that is smart or competent or well thought out. This is a disaster, a foreign policy disaster like I’ve never really seen in recent years.”

Trump, Komanduri added, told his voters his policies would create “the opposite of this,” ending overseas wars altogether and leading to “so much winning. Instead, he has gotten us into foreign wars, and we have lost so much. It is an absolute disgrace. And it’s one that I am very sure the voters will punish him in November.”
