Nine students will take the stage Thursday for the finals of the 2026 Scripps National Spelling Bee. The three-day competition began Tuesday at DAR Constitution Hall in Washington with nearly 250 spellers from across the United States, its territories and five other nations. Tonight’s winner will take home a slew of prizes, including $50,000, a commemorative medal, the Scripps Cup, as well as $2,500 and a reference library from Merriam-Webster. The finals will kick off at 8 p.m. Eastern and air on TV on ION, spellingbee.com and other Scripps-affiliated stations.
