Convicted child predator wanted by ICE after she was released in Virginia and broke probation

A Romanian immigrant released early from prison for sexually abusing a middle-school boy is now wanted by ICE after landing back behind bars for allegedly violating her probation.

Rebecca Fratila-Ilies is now facing deportation after she was convicted on two counts of carnal knowledge of a child and statutory rape following her December 2022 arrest in Virginia, according to ICE.

She was cut loose early from a Staunton prison while serving a decade-long sentence, only to relocate to North Carolina, where she was hauled back into custody by the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office for an alleged probation violation on March 25, 2025.

“Fratila-Ilies is a lawful permanent resident, but she’s been convicted of sex crimes against a child, which means she’s amenable to removal,” ICE Director Todd Lyons said in a statement.

“She’s currently in removal proceedings and ICE is standing by to deport her upon a Department of Justice immigration judge’s order.”

It’s unclear when she was released from prison or what her alleged probation violation involved.

After her latest run-in with the law, the sheriff’s office tipped off ICE, which slapped an immigration detainer on April 17 and urged authorities not to let the child predator walk free as their case plays out.

The convicted sex offender arrived in the US as a child and was handed a green card in 2006, federal officials said, but later discovered her mother filed a fraudulent asylum case – invalidating her permanent resident status.

An immigration judge ordered Fratila-Ilies deported in absentia in 2017, but she appealed the ruling and later won relief from removal in 2022, before she was convicted.

Lyons said her sickening sex crimes now make her eligible for deportation.

Fratila-Ilies remains in police custody pending the outcome of her probation violation case.
