Eric Swalwell’s brother breaks silence on sexual assault allegations

Eric Swalwell’s brother revealed that the sexual assault claims surrounding the disgraced ex-congressman has shattered the family.

“It’s just awful. The family is devastated,” Joshua Swalwell told The Post, adding “this whole thing is horrible no matter how you look at it all around.”

The 44-year-old, who lives in Florida and work in the fitness industry, said he recently spoke to his brother “very briefly” but hasn’t had a lengthy conversation with him.

Joshua, one of Eric’s three younger brothers, said the family was working to put out a statement following allegations of sexual assault and rape against his brother, who resigned from Congress on Tuesday.

“When it’s appropriate, we will definitely do so,” Joshua explained. “It’s killing me not to have said something already. I just want to make sure that we’re all aligned. It’s a big deal and very sensitive. We want to be sensitive to everybody involved.”

Rumors began swirling last week about the congressman’s possible improper behavior with women, before news broke on Friday that he allegedly raped a former staffer, in addition to claims from other women of lewd acts.

On Tuesday, another of his alleged victim came forward to accuse of him of a 2018 rape in Los Angeles, saying he spiked her drink before choking and sexually assaulting her.

The married father of three has vehemently denied the accusations, calling the claims “false, fabricated, and deeply offensive” while admitting to “mistakes in judgment in my past.”

Joshua said the entire situation has “my head spinning so fast.”

“It’s very tough — very, very tough,” he said.

“I wish I could spend more time talking to him, but I have a full-time job and, you know, supporting a household myself. So, of course, I’ve got a pretty busy life.”
