One of the rarest and most thrilling Porsche 911s ever created is now up for auction: the 1988 Porsche 911 TAG Turbo by Lanzante. Estimated to fetch as much as $2,100,000 USD, this is one of only 11 examples modified by UK-based motorsport experts Lanzante to house a legendary Formula One engine, the 1.5L twin-turbo TAG-Porsche V6 originally built by Hans Mezger and raced by Alain Prost during the 1986 and 1987 F1 seasons. Codenamed “AP87” in tribute to its F1 engine numbered “051,” the car is built from a 930 Turbo and boasts 510 bhp, a 200-mph top speed and weighs 286 pounds less than its original factory spec.

Finished in striking Mintgrün over black leather and tartan inserts, this build is not just a technical marvel but a visual statement. Featuring extensive weight-saving measures—including carbon fiber body panels, a six-speed manual gearbox and gold RUF wheels—the car has only 311 miles since completion. Recently serviced by Lanzante in March 2025, it includes updated software and ECU upgrades. More than a restomod, the AP87 is a motorsport icon reimagined for the road, offering collectors a once-in-a-lifetime chance to own a slice of Formula One history wrapped in Porsche’s unmistakable silhouette.
