If there’s one thing we know for sure about Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez, it’s that they were 100 percent serious when they spoke about blending their families. On April 16, Affleck took all the kids—his three and Lopez’s two—to the premiere of his new movie, The Accountant 2. And it gets even sweeter when you hear what he had to say about it.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet, Affleck first took a moment to praise his ex-wife. “Jennifer Lopez is spectacular, great to my kids, has great ongoing relationship with them,” he said. “I love her kids, they’re wonderful.” He continued, calling Lopez a “tremendous” person with “a lot of integrity,” who he adores and is grateful to. He was then equally adorable when talking about bringing all the kids to the movie.
“I am thrilled that the kids are here with me,” Affleck said. “The relationships that you have with children—like, that’s the joy of my life. And those kids are amazing and I’m glad that this is a movie they wanted to come to.”
The fact that Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez have been committed to staying close with one-another’s kids has been evident since the early days of the divorce rumors. In August of 2024, Lopez was seen shopping with Affleck’s son Samuel and, meanwhile, his daughter Violet was spotted wearing a dress she very well may have borrowed from Lopez’s closet.
Since the divorce, Affleck and Lopez have had nothing but kind things to say about one another, perhaps in part for the sake of their combined five kids. “They want to show the kids that things are amicable,” a source told People in September 2024. “They want to stay friendly. There’s still a lot of love.”
Affleck himself puts it even more modestly. Complimented by ET reporter Nischelle Turner on being a great dad, he replied, “I try my best.”
