Remember when everyone questioned TGL’s big-screen format, pricey tickets, and night tee times? Guess what? Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy just proved them all wrong as their tech league concluded the 2025 season on Tuesday.

The $21M PGA Tour tied event redefined the sport, as it gave fans countless trending moments and edge-of-your-seat entertainment. And no doubt, one of the most thrilling instances came during the finale’s second-round matchup.

Billy Horschel made an impressive 18-foot birdie putt, downhill with a double break, followed by a wild celebration Tuesday night. As his ball vanished into the hole, Horschel threw his putter and cap aside, faced toward the fans screaming, “My effin’ house!” in excitement.

This shot turned a 3-2 deficit into a 4-3 lead with just one hole to play. It ultimately led to Justin Thomas’ team securing a $9 million victory. When questioned about his reaction, the 8-time PGA Tour winner revealed, “Walking away when the ball was about two feet, knowing it was going in.”

With a hint of a smile, he added, “I don’t remember throwing the putter down. And I remember saying it was my effin’ house.”

But that’s not all. According to a PGA Tour.com writer Paul Hodowanic, as soon as Horschel walked into the media room, he asked, “Where’s Kyle Porter?”

Why? The 38-year-old pointed out the media member, Kyle Porter, for picking against him and openly challenged him on Monday.

“I’m very well aware of when people are picking against me. I want to prove them wrong, and I want to beat the person I’m going against as bad as anybody I’ve ever gone against at that moment,” Horschel said.

He added, “So Kyle Porter, please pick against me tomorrow (Tuesday).” And the 38-year-old pro ultimately made Porter eat his words in style.

Amusingly, after the win, Porter took it to X, posting, “All credit to me for this championship.”

A look back at Atlanta Drive vs NY Golf Club’s finale series

On Monday night, Atlanta clinched the first match 6-5, thanks to Patrick Cantlay’s winning putt against Xander Schauffele on the final singles hole. Schauffele’s tying putt lipped out of the cup, giving Atlanta the first in a best-of-three series.

On Tuesday night, it was nail-biting for both teams. The scoreboard remained blank until New York finally broke through on the seventh hole.

They took a 2-0 lead into the singles matches and extended their advantage on the first singles hole, with Xander Schauffele defeating Justin Thomas.

However, Atlanta got on the scoreboard after Patrick Cantlay’s putt on the 12th hole beat Cameron Young, taking home $2.25.

But it all came down to one of the most bombastic players on Tour in Horschel. He is not one to hold back and he certainly didn’t in that moment.

His reaction is exactly what Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy were looking for when they launched the tech-infused golf league. It is golf, but with a different atmosphere made for the growing, younger audience.
