JD has once again teamed up with New Balance to reimagine the 740 silhouette in new colorways.
Following exclusive drops including the 1000, the Cat Burns-fronted 9060, and Loyle Carner 1906, the retailer continues its long-standing partnership with the sportswear and lifestyle brand through unique releases.
Having recently been revived from the archives, the 740 reissue preserves key design elements from its original 2000s model. Boasting a running-inspired silhouette with an open knit mesh upper, segmented midsole and streamlined construction, the two-tone overlays provide an eye-catching addition to the versatile sneaker. For the latest launch, the pack arrives in four brand new tonal colorways dropping exclusively at JD including “Pearl Grey,” “Sea Salt,” “Slate Grey,” and “Timberwolf.”
The accompanying campaign, fronted by Ayra Starr, sees the Nigerian singer-songwriter styled in the 740 as she showcases its wearability through a pared-back, everyday outfit.
Bringing the sneaker to life, JD and New Balance also hosted an intimate event to celebrate the drop late last month. As well as an immersive space for visitors to engage with the new 740 colorways, Ayra Starr delivered her signature genre-bending sound with a live performance alongside headline DJ Skyla Tylaa, and other local artists.
