A man who appeared to be homeless was found dead inside a 1 train at the busy Times Square subway station Sunday afternoon after a fellow rider called authorities for help, police and law enforcement sources said.

The unidentified man was unresponsive and unconscious when first responders reached the southbound train around 4 p.m., the NYPD said.

The straphanger, who is estimated to have been between 60 and 70 years old, was pronounced dead at the scene soon after, according to authorities.

He appeared to be homeless, sources said.

Police were first alerted to the heartbreaking situation after another rider on the 1 train noticed the man appeared to be dead.

There were no visible signs of trauma and no criminality is suspected, police and sources said.

The medical examiner’s office will determine the cause of death.

The discovery led to delays on the 1, 2, and 3 trains in both directions late afternoon into early evening as police probed the scene.

More than three weeks ago, another apparent homeless man was found dead inside Central Park near Rumsey Playfield in frigid temperatures. He was only 27.
