Justin Baldoni’s mother is speaking out amid her son’s ongoing legal battle with Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds.
In honor of the It Ends With Us star and director’s 41st birthday on January 24, Sharon Baldoni posted three photos from his wedding to Emily Baldoni in 2013. In the caption, Sharon reflected on a different project of Justin’s, describing the “joy and love” that “permeated the set” after filming the series finale of Jane The Virgin.
She broke her silence with a celebratory birthday tribute.
“Happy Birthday Justin ~ remembering a wonderful moment after the final ending of ‘Jane The Virgin’—a moment where joy and love permeated the set, where friendships and family were born and kindness and integrity permeated the hearts of all the actors and crew, where sadness only entered because it was the final scene of a wonderful journey~ and the beginning of the rest of our lives,” she wrote. “A happy loving and generous memory with hearts exploding with possibilities. Life has its moments and also its surprises—as you keep your integrity through it all Justice and truth will shine today and into eternity. I love you more than you will ever know! Happy Birthday my beautiful boy! May God continue to bless you in truth.”

On January 24, Justin Baldoni’s wife also shared her first Instagram post amid the controversy, writing, “Happy birthday my love. Celebrating the man, husband, and father that you are. I’d choose you again and again.”
These posts comes nearly a month after Blake Lively filed her initial sexual harassment complaint against Justin Baldoni, also accusing the director of embarking on a smear campaign to “destroy” her reputation. In response, Baldoni is suing Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, for defamation and extortion. Baldoni has also filed a lawsuit against the New York Times over their report on Lively’s complaint.
After Lively’s accusations went public in late December, multiple It Ends With Us cast members threw their support behind Lively, as did It Ends With Us author Colleen Hoover and Lively’s former Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants costars Amber Tamblyn, America Ferrera, and Alexis Bledel.

Four months after the film’s release, Blake Lively is suing Justin Baldoni for sexual harassment.
“As Blake’s friends and sisters for over 20 years, we stand with her in solidarity as she fights back against the reported campaign waged to destroy her reputation,” the Sisterhood stars wrote in a joint Instagram statement. “Throughout the filming of It Ends With Us, we saw her summon the courage to ask for a safe workplace for herself and colleagues on set, and we are appalled to read the evidence of a premeditated and vindictive effort that ensued to discredit her voice. Most upsetting is the unabashed exploitation of domestic violence survivors’ stories to silence a woman who asked for safety. The hypocrisy is astounding.”
So far, none of the It Ends With Us cast has spoken up in defense of Baldoni, while his Man Enough cohost Liz Plank announced her departure from the podcast on December 23. While his Jane the Virgin costar Gina Rodriguez has remained silent throughout the legal back-and-forth, she referred to the actor as “my brother forever” during an interview with People in September 2024, calling him a “sweet, sweet soul” and “a sweetie pie.”

This is a lot.
It’s unclear how much more of this legal battle will play out in the public eye. This past week, Baldoni’s lawyer Bryan Freedman promised to post “all correspondence as well as relevant videos that quash [Lively’s] claims” on an upcoming website after releasing 10 minutes of “raw” behind-the-scenes footage to the media.
Though Lively’s legal team claims “every frame” of that video supports her version of events, they have since requested a hearing to stop Baldoni’s lawyers from “making further defamatory, and retaliatory, statements relating to Ms. Lively.”

Baldoni’s team released the footage claiming it corroborated his version of events.
According to CNN, Lively’s lawyers claim Baldoni’s team “have continued their harassing and retaliatory media campaign, with almost daily media statements or other releases to the press” in a letter filed in the Southern District of New York on January 21.
However, Baldoni’s legal team asked the judge to deny that request, alleging that the “media feeding frenzy” started with the December New York Times report. “The Lively Parties’ desire to force the Wayfarer Parties to defend themselves privately against allegations made publicly is not a proper basis for a gag order,” Baldoni’s lawyers wrote in their own letter, per USA TODAY. “It is tactical gamesmanship, and it is outrageous.”
