President-elect Donald Trump will enter his second term in the White House with a majority of Americans both expecting him to do well and satisfied with the way he’s handled the transition into public office, according to a new poll.

A CNN survey released Thursday found 56% of Americans expect Trump to do a “good job” as the 47th president – up from 48% after his 2016 election win.

The poll also found 55% approve of the way the president-elect has handled his second transition – far higher than the 40% approval number he received eight years ago.

Trump’s favorable rating heading into his second term was measured at 46%, the highest it’s been since his victory over Hillary Clinton.

Most Americans (56%) also expect the state of the economy – one of voters’ top issues heading into Election Day – to be “very or somewhat good” after Trump’s first year back in the White House.

A majority (52%) indicated that the country would be better off overall at the end of Trump’s second term.

The high expectations for the country come with a belief that Trump will deliver on some of his biggest campaign promises.

An overwhelming majority (80%) feel it’s likely that Trump will impose tariffs on goods from Mexico, Canada and China, and 50% expect the cost of US goods to go down under Trump.

Trump has vowed to embark on the largest deportation operation in US history when he takes office and most Americans (74%) believe that he’ll follow through with his plan to detain and deport migrants that entered the country illegally.

Fewer (56%) think the incoming president is going to shut down the US border with Mexico.

The poll found that Americans are more split on whether Trump will be able to reduce the size and cost of running the federal government (54% think he can) and end the war in Ukraine (49% believe it is likely).

Trump, 78, will be sworn in as the 47th president on Monday.
