Aubrey Plaza praised her “darling husband” Jeff Baena in what seems to be her first and only public Instagram post with him before his unexpected death on Friday.

As she announced her new marriage to the film director on social media in May 2021, the “Parks and Rec” actress congratulated Baena on his “new assignment,” 2022 film “Spin Me Round.” She also shared photos of the pair as they gazed into each other’s eyes on a film set.

“So proud of my darling husband @jeffbaena for dreaming up another film that take us to Italia to cause some more trouble,” she captioned the post.

“Excited to be reunited with the amazing @alisonbrie (who also co-wrote this one!) … and so many more fun people in this. Preparati!!”

Baena was found dead by his assistant inside his Los Angeles-area home Friday morning. Police then responded to a call for a death investigation around 10:30 a.m. local time, and they pronounced him dead at the scene.

Law enforcement sources told TMZ that Baena’s death was by suicide. The exact details surrounding how he died are not immediately known.

The filmmaker’s family confirmed his death in a statement to Deadline on Saturday, saying they are “devastated” by his passing and ask for “privacy at this difficult time.”

Plaza and Baena secretly married in 2020 after 10 years of dating. They had no children together.

Later that year, the “White Lotus” actress shared their wedding story during an appearance on the “Ellen DeGeneres Show,” saying the big nuptials all started with a joke about tying the knot as they quarantined together amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

On the day of their wedding, Plaza said she told Baena: “Hey, it’s our 10-year anniversary, we should do something. Get an ice cream cone or do something special” and “joked about getting married.”

She continued on, saying she found a website called 1hourmarriage.com that claimed to help couples obtain marriage licenses and tie the knot quickly.

Baena was first romantically linked to the actress in 2010 after they worked together on multiple projects, including 2014’s “Life After Beth” and 2017’s “The Little Hours.”
