Emma Stone, a longtime friend of Taylor Swift, co-stars with Joe Alwyn in the upcoming film Kinds of Kindness and recently praised him as “one of the sweetest people,” following Swift’s 2023 breakup with Alwyn.
“I love Joe,” Stone shared in a press release regarding the film on Thursday, May 9. “We had to do some pretty dark stuff on this one, so it was extremely comforting to be with him because he’s one of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet.”
The Lala Land star further disclosed that her real-life friendship with Alwyn helped them film difficult scenes together, considering the heavy subject line of the film.
Joining Stone and Alwyn in the film are an array of other A-listers, including Willem Dafoe, Margaret Qualley, Jesse Plemons, Hong Chau, Mamoudou Athie, and Hunter Schafer.
This isn’t the first collaboration between the two actors; they previously worked together in another Yorgos Lanthimos film, The Favourite.
Swift and Alwyn’s romantic involvement spanned six years, from 2016 to 2023. While specifics regarding their split remain undisclosed, fans speculate that many tracks on Swift’s latest album, The Tortured Poets Department, may allude to their relationship.
The Easy A star and the Grammy winner’s friendship dates back to 2008. Fans speculate that Swift’s song “When Emma Falls in Love: Taylor’s Version” from her album Speak Now may be an ode to Stone.
At the premiere of Poor Things in New York City, where the Academy Award winner played the leading role, Swift showed her support for Stone by attending the event. Entertainment Tonight seized the opportunity to inquire whether the song was indeed about Stone at the vent, and her response was, “You would have to ask [Taylor].”
The following month, Swift was spotted in the audience, enthusiastically cheering on Stone as she claimed a Golden Globe for her role as Bella Baxter.
