Don’t call it a comeback: For the first time since 2019’s Camp theme, Zendaya has returned for the Met Gala 2024, and her bold look is well worth the wait.
The 27-year-old actor, who recently turned the junket backdrop into a runway-worthy fashion show with her thematic looks on the press tours for Challengers and Dune: Part Two, is a co-chair of this year’s event, which carries a dress code of “the Garden of Time.”

She arrived toward the official opening of the carpet to help greet guests as part of her co-chair duties, stepping onto the event’s green and white carpet in a bold blue custom haute couture look created by Maison Margiela Artisanal by John Galliano that evoked a peacock strutting the grounds of a luxurious garden. Her organza and lamé bias-cut dress and duchess satin corset also featured bands of hand-painted metallic crin, iridescent organza, an aluminum drape and bow, and hand-embroidered corsage.
Her flight of fashion doesn’t stop there: Zendaya also wore a hand-painted veil and hat created by Stephen Jones for Maison Margiela, wrapped in stockings to mimic plumage, and custom Tabi Christian Louboutin for Maison Margiela pumps.
It all gets even more impressive when you take into account that late last week, Zendaya’s fashion collaborator Law Roach said that her look “isn’t even made” and that a fitting wasn’t scheduled until Saturday, just two days before the event. No pressure.
