Ryan Seacrest teased about potentially joining Dancing With the Stars on the red carpet following Monday night’s episode of American Idol, spurred by a video he shared showcasing his dance moves.
“Getting ready to (body) roll on a new episode of #AmericanIdol TONIGHT your IDOL hopefuls will be singing from the Adele songbook & “Songs That Make You Wanna Dance”, with @ciara as mentor and a special performance by @Meghan_Trainor,” Seacrest wrote via X (formerly known as Twitter), along with a video of him busting some moves behind the scenes of the singing competition show.
“I think America’s been waiting for some moves,” Seacrest told Entertainment Tonight, which he posted ahead of the Sunday, May 5 show, aligning with the theme of the night: “Songs That Make You Wanna Dance.”
In this episode of American Idol, the Top 7 took the stage to perform, ultimately leading to the selection of the Top 5 contestants.
“I mean, I’ve had them bottled up,” Seacrest continued to joke about his dancing. “It was time to break out the hips and show they can move a little bit.”
But he did admit that the TV host was “was terrified” to dance and post the video, explaining that he “practiced that for an hour.”
When he was asked if Dancing with the Stars was in the cards for him, he did not shoot it down, responding, “I don’t know! Never say never after that, right?”
Although he seemed open to the idea of joining the dancing competition show, he is set to start as host of Wheel of Fortune beginning in September 2024.
