Your order has arrived: Lauren Sánchez and her billionaire fiancé, Jeff Bezos, made their debut appearance at the Met Gala 2024 on Monday evening, gaining entry to fashion’s biggest, ultraexclusive night.
Sánchez, who recently turned heads at a star-studded White House state dinner in honor of the prime minister of Japan while wearing a figure-hugging red satin and lace gown by Rasario, made her debut on the Met steps in a strapless Oscar de la Renta ballgown with a dramatic mosaic-inspired skirt.
The outfit nodded to the evening’s suggested dress code, “The Garden of Time,” in honor of this year’s spring exhibition at The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion, with a simple black strapless sweetheart bodice that gave way to a sweeping floral skirt with tonal overlapping panels in the style of mosaic garden art. She wore black pumps and kept the rest of her look simple to give the gown center stage. She opted to keep her neck bare and hair down, choosing a nude lip shade to offset her high-contrast dress.
Of course, Sánchez and Bezos aren’t strangers to rubbing fashionably clad shoulders with the celebrity crowd: They attended this year’s Vanity Fair Oscar Party, and their November 2023 engagement party was hosted at the Beverly Hills home of Diane Von Furstenberg and Barry Diller, with the likes of Kim Kardashian, Oprah Winfrey, and Barbra Streisand reportedly in attendance, and Jewel on hand to perform a song she wrote for the couple.
Sánchez also has a previous connection to the event’s cochair, Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour, having been profiled in the magazine’s December 2023 issue. She reportedly even received advice from Wintour on selecting her look for this year’s Met Gala.
