Whoopi Goldberg stunned The View this morning with her unusual metaphor while discussing former POTUS Donald Trump (or as she prefers to call him, “You Know Who.”)
While debating the Supreme Court’s Monday ruling that Colorado cannot leave Trump off of the state’s primary ballot over his insurrection involvement, Goldberg chose a colorful phrase to get her point across.
“The thing that bothers me about this, and I know it’s probably the right decision, but I don’t like that we’ve normalized this man,” Goldberg told her co-hosts. “It is really irritating the poo out of me that we have normalized him and his bad behavior.”
“Why have we normalized it? Why is this now normal behavior?” she asked.
Ana Navarro told Goldberg that the “normalization of bad behavior” is “so Donald Trump-centric,” but noted, “it didn’t just start now.”
Looking back on the infamous Access Hollywood tape in which Trump bragged about sexual assault, Navarro said the pivotal moment in his political career was the “beginning of the normalization.”
Navarro added, “There’s so many things … that Donald Trump has done and said that would have mandated any other normal human being to resign in shame the next day.” She credited the Republicans continuing to vote for him for normalizing “evil and wrongdoing.”
After the audience applauded Navarro’s remarks, Goldberg chimed in again, confessing that she used to be a “really big fan of the Supreme Court.” She then accused SCOTUS of giving Trump protection in the latest ruling.
“He is once again been given a rubber to put on and walk through the poo—” she began, and when she was met with stunned silence, Goldberg added, “Yes, yes, you heard me,” but didn’t elaborate further.
At the end of the segment, Goldberg lamented how the court has changed in recent years. While she saw plenty of issues with it when she was younger — “all men voting for all men”— Goldberg said now she’s seeing the ceilings that were broken by women years ago be “shut down” while history is “removed.”
“We are in the process of removing history. There’s a lot going on, and we have normalized it,” Goldberg said, while issuing a call to vote in local elections.
“Hopefully you want an America that is gonna work a little better than this one that is working,” she told viewers.
The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
