President Donald Trump lashed out at a reporter Friday after being asked about Jeffrey Epstein, hurling an insult at her and refusing to answer her question about efforts to release files on the disgraced financier.
“If there’s nothing incriminating in the files, sir, why not?” a Bloomberg reporter could be heard asking Trump aboard Air Force One in a video released by the White House before being cutoff by Trump.
“Quiet!” Trump snapped back. “Quiet piggy!”
Efforts to release files about Epstein held either by his estate or the Justice Department have been a thorn in Trump’s side in recent months, with the president having aggressively pursued a campaign to block an impending vote on forcing the DOJ to release its files on the disgraced financier.
Critics, including Reps. Melanie Stansbury (D-NM) and Robert Garcia (D-CA) have described Trump’s opposition to files on Epstein being released as a clear sign of fear of what may exist within the files, with the relatively small batch of files that have been released being riddled with mentions of Trump, mentions that suggest Trump may have “spent hours” with an Epstein victim at his home, and that Trump may have spent Thanksgiving with Epstein while president.
Trump made a dramatic reversal on Sunday, however, when he claimed he actually wanted House Republicans to support a measure that would see the DOJ release its files on Epstein, though one that critics have alleged is part of a ploy to protect himself and only release a portion of files on Epstein.
