President Donald Trump on Wednesday criticized senators for not approving his plan for year-round daylight saving time, saying they could have averted this week’s “ridiculous” clock changes.
Trump has championed the Sunshine Protection Act, which would stop the process of “springing forward” in March and “falling back” in November by permanently advancing the nation’s clocks by one hour. The bill passed the House in July with bipartisan support but has stalled in the Senate.
If the bill is enacted now, it would lead to an immediate midwinter time jump — which has not dissuaded the president.
“I will keep fighting for this!” Trump wrote on Truth Social, complaining about this week’s early sunsets after the clocks moved back one hour on Sunday.

Trump had hoped to tout that he had ended the nation’s clock changes before the midterm elections, The Washington Post previously reported. He criticized senators who held up the legislation.
“I didn’t want to make a big deal out of this prior to the Election because I didn’t want to have certain Senators lose their Race, in a landslide,” Trump wrote.
Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Arkansas), the bill’s chief critic, won reelection by about 12 percentage points Tuesday.
