Sports reporter Inés Gómez Mont, who proposed to Tom Brady at Super Bowl Media Day in 2008, was reportedly arrested by ICE in Miami on Friday.
The 43-year-old Mexican journalist was taken into custody on fraud charges, five years after she went on the run regarding an alleged $160 million fraud scheme, according to the Sun.
Mont was pictured in handcuffs while being escorted away by two ICE agents. She was dressed in a white shirt, blue skirt and white sneakers.

Mont and her husband, Víctor Manuel Álvarez Puga, are being accused of using shell companies, sham contracts and false invoices to bring in money from Mexico’s Interior Ministry and laundering the proceeds.
Puga, dubbed the “King of the Invoice Mills,” allegedly masterminded the entire operation.
He’s also reportedly accused of running an extensive network of connections involving politicians, former government officials, lawyers, businessmen and celebrities.
Following her arrest, Mont remains in US custody pending immigration proceedings and any formal extradition process, per the Sun.

Mont and Puga fled Mexico in September 2021 after warrants were issued over their alleged $160 million scam.
After four years on the run, Puga was detained by ICE in September 2025 over immigration irregularities, according to the Sun.
Puga was later released and his current whereabouts are unknown.
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum reportedly previously described the couple as “known fraudsters with ample evidence that they were issuing fraudulent invoices to businesses to evade taxes.”

Mont denied the serious allegations against her and her husband in an Instagram statement back in September 2021.
“To be clear, I’ve never stolen a weight. I haven’t received any money from those contracts, let alone I’ve never seen or had 3 billion pesos in my life,” she wrote at the time. “I’m a TV host and a full time mom. And under no concept do I belong to organized crime.”
Mont continued, “I repeat and stand by it: I am innocent, and this is an injustice. They want to shut me up, but I will continue to raise my voice with all my might.”

Mont went viral for proposing to Brady, 49, while wearing a white wedding dress and veil during the 2008 Super Bowl Media Day.
“I’m in love with you! Will you marry me, please?” Mont, who was covering the event, shouted to the then-New England Patriots quarterback.
Brady, who was dating his now-ex-wife, Gisele Bündchen, at the time, declined the proposal, noting he was a “one-woman man.”
