Mystery celebrity who threatened suicide over sexual misconduct set to learn his fate in court

The mystery celebrity accused of sexual misconduct will find out Tuesday if his bid to block publicationof the abuse claims has been successful.

The anonymous man, referred to as PPT, previously made the argument that he will “very likely” take his own life if the allegations and his identity are published.

Mr. Justice Nicklin will give his decision at London’s High Court on Tuesday afternoon, per the Daily Mail.

The celebrity is seeking an injunction against ITN and The Guardian newspaper to stop them revealing allegations of “inappropriate and exploitative sexual activities with a large number of girls and young women.”

His legal team is arguing that the publication of his identity and allegations will be a threat on his life.

Last week in court, his lawyers claimed their client’s suicidal reaction would be a result of concern about “trial by media” rather than wrongdoing.

They also noted that PPT vehemently denied using “his power and position as a celebrity to contact and forge relationships with young women and teenagers to try to have sex with them.”

However, GNM and ITN backed their rights to publish their articles, arguing that there was no legitimate basis “to restrain the publication of public interest journalism” and the celebrity’s “suicide risk” could be lowered with mental health treatment.

In turn, the celebrity’s legal team pointed out that their client had already attempted suicide twice after he received notice from GNM and ITN, requesting a comment on the allegations.

PPT was released from the hospital after the first attempt and tried again.

“This is not a case where an individual has spuriously raised ‘mental health’ concerns in the face of an impending publication that they do not wish to occur,” his attorney Sara Mansoori KC told the court.

“The claimant has attempted suicide twice as a result of these matters, been hospitalized for months, been the subject of involuntary detention and been examined by multiple — now more than 10 doctors,” the lawyer continued.

In her argument, Mansoori also assured the court that her client “has no intention of returning to public life” after the allegations.

But Gavin Millar, the attorney representing ITN and GNM, told the court that the publications have gathered “numerous allegations” throughout the “wide-ranging and rigorous investigation,” emphasizing that journalists interviewed 100 people.

Miller argued that many of the women who have come forward “have been traumatized by the claimant’s alleged conduct and have suffered mental health crises and mental illness as a result.”

Nicklin agreed there was public interest in the case, noting it was “a difficult and important” one.

The judge also confirmed he couldn’t verify the allegations against the celebrity and that his role is just to determine whether the claims could be published by ITN and Guardian News.
