Trump’s intensifies vital ‘war on fraud’: Letters to the Editor — Oct. 26, 2026

The Issue: President Trump’s new program that offers rewards for tips leading to fraud convictions.

Bravo to President Trump for offering up to $30,000 in rewards to whistleblowers who report a case of the widespread fraud that has infected our government and rips off taxpayers (“Show and tell,” Oct. 21).

We’re $40 trillion in debt and saddled with a Supreme Court that prevents the Trump administration from increasing revenue through tariffs and controlling costs via stricter immigration reform such as abolishing birthright citizenship.

I applaud his outside-the-box initiative. Every American should look out for America’s best interest by reporting fraud.

He also said whistleblowers could get up to a 1% commission on the recovered funds, which could be life-changing.

This may go down as one of America’s best incentive programs.

Luana Dunn

Glen Burnie, Md.

This effort should have bipartisan support. The only way it wouldn’t is if some politicians are benefiting from fraud. If that’s the case, they should be subject to an investigation and removed from office if found guilty.

Louie Rey

Summerville, SC

With an overwhelming amount of fraud in America, one would think Democratic voters would realize that it continues because it’s profitable not only to those stealing, but to the politicians they have in their pockets.

What we have seen in the past year makes me sick: Those trying to live the American dream keep getting screwed over by others who believe they are above the law.

Philip Vallone

Ossining

The level of fraud being discovered is mind-blowing. Who is teaching these criminals how to game the system? I’m amazed it’s both private citizens and public servants.

All while so many small-business owners get rejected for federal funding. It seems we have a society of people who have little regard for Americans who actually need help.

Greg Raleigh

Washington, DC

President Trump’s fraud idea is a good one. The fraud in Medicaid and Social Security is unbelievable. It’s unfortunate that it won’t end, but this is the best possible solution.

The Issue: Democratic candidates’ campaign messaging ahead of the midterm elections.

Democrats running in November’s midterm elections won their primaries by touting their far-left agendas — but now are backtracking and pretending to be centrist (“Media Cranks,” Isaac Schorr, PostOpinion Oct. 21).

It worked with former President Joe Biden pretending to be moderate — but he showed his true colors once elected. It’s not going to work this time.

Walter Goldeski

East Brunswick, NJ

I wish voters would keep in mind that there were no Democrats who voted for the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which included provisions like no tax on tips.

Democrats have gone too far left. They don’t care about the seniors, the working class, moderate black or union voters. Their efforts are aimed at urban, liberal and younger voters. Voters should think carefully before casting their ballots.

Roberta Chaleff

Tamarac, Fla.

I don’t understand the hatred for President Trump. I do understand not agreeing with someone or something, but to be so adamant in the feeling of hatred seems unhinged.

I urge voters not to let your feelings about the president cloud your judgment and carefully think through what will happen if Democrats succeed in the midterms.

Juno Beach, Fla.
