Stanford sex offender Brock Turner thriving with ‘secret life’ under new name: report

Brock Turner, the former Stanford University swimmer who became the face of judicial leniency in campus sexual assault cases, is back living in his Ohio hometown under a different name, according to the Daily Mail.

The Mail reported that Turner has been quietly rising at the factory that hired him after his conviction and has bought his own home in the suburb where he grew up. His name resurfaced as Cornell University faces scrutiny over its handling of an alleged sexual assault at a fraternity house by seven men, the Mail said.

A decade ago, Turner ignited outrage when he walked free from jail after serving about three months for sexually assaulting an unconscious woman behind a dumpster after a fraternity party. He was sentenced in 2016 to six months in county jail, though prosecutors had asked for six years, and served half of it. The sentence led to the 2018 recall of Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge Aaron Persky.

When the Mail approached Turner outside his home, he declined to talk. “I have no interest in speaking,” he told the paper.

According to the Mail, Turner remains a lifetime registered sex offender in Ohio and must verify his information in person with the county sheriff every 90 days. Public property records show he bought a two-bedroom, one-bath house in December 2021 for $162,500, the Mail reported.

The Mail photographed him leaving the factory in June 2019, when he was working an entry-level quality control job for about $12 an hour. A colleague said at the time that he had started in shipping and receiving. He now lists a title online as a supplier quality specialist, an office-based role overseeing the quality of parts bought from outside suppliers, which the Mail said typically pays between $55,000 and $70,000 a year in the area.’

Meanwhile, the family that rallied around him has split.

Turner’s parents, who pleaded with the judge for leniency at his sentencing, divorced in April after nearly 38 years of marriage, according to court records obtained by the Mail. His father, Dan Turner, wrote the infamous letter to the judge arguing that jail would be “a steep price to pay for 20 minutes of action.”

Turner’s victim, Chanel Miller, waived her anonymity in 2019 with her bestselling memoir, “Know My Name,” which won the National Book Critics Circle Award.

The Cornell case involves a former student who sued seven men she says raped her at a fraternity house in October 2024, along with the university and the fraternity. The men deny the allegations, and no criminal charges have been filed. New York Gov. Kathy Hochul has appointed state Attorney General Letitia James as special prosecutor.
