Quick-thinking wedding guests take matters into own hands to save reception from flooding

Wedding guests in Sydney were hit by a crazy storm that nearly caused the venue to flood, but they took matters into their own hands.

Guests on Saturday, October 3, used chairs to prevent rainwater from flooding the undisclosed venue after severe thunderstorms and hail hit the area.

It seemed that the guests’ innovative thinking helped, as the chairs diverted a potential flood.

Hail was also seen bucketing down around the venue.

The NSW State Emergency Service received more than 180 calls for assistance as the severe weather moved across NSW.

Videos circulated on the internet, which prompted social media to intervene with their thoughts.

“They say rain on your wedding day is good luck. What’s it for hail?” one person asked on Facebook.

“Maybe take a look at the weather forecast before doing a wedding,” another user expressed.

“This is why, when you’re planning a wedding at a venue, you need to make sure there’s both an outdoor space and an indoor option as a Plan B,” one person criticized.

“Have it indoors next time,” another claimed.

“Might be a sign lol,” someone suggested, hinting that the couple should’ve called off the wedding when it started hailing.

“That’s the spirit. Rain, hail or shine, the show must go on,” another user cheered on.

“Brings wedding crashing to a whole new level,” one person chimed in.

Despite what the couple thought would be a beautiful spring wedding, rain on your wedding day is meant to be good luck in the superstitious world. So maybe they will end up happily ever after!
