President Donald Trumprepeatedly lashed out at protesters during a chaotic campaign rally in San Antonio on Wednesday, mocking a demonstrator’s weight and accusing others of being paid by “enemies of our nation.”
The president was interrupted multiple times during his speech as protesters were forcefully ejected from the packed venue, drawing boos, obscene gestures, and chants of “USA” from his MAGA supporters.
“Is there anything like a Trump rally? Is there anything? I don’t think so,” Trump told the crowd as he stopped his remarks multiple times to watch protesters being removed.
“Now he’s going back home to mom right now,” Trump mocked. “Because what he doesn’t know is that his mom voted for Trump.”
The president briefly stepped away from the podium during the commotion Wednesday evening, turning toward rally-goers behind him as the crowd erupted.
But the interruptions at Trump’s Lone Star State rally didn’t stop there. When another protester was escorted out, Trump took aim at the person’s appearance.
“That guy’s got to lose a lot of weight. Wow,” Trump said. He then accused the demonstrators of being paid to disrupt his rally.
“You know, many of these protesters are paid. You know that, right?” Trump told the crowd.
When yet another person was ejected from San Antonio’s Freeman Coliseum, Trump made more disparaging remarks.
“You know I never talk about the looks of a person,” he said. “But those are really bad-looking people you have to see. They are bad-looking people.”
“If there are any more paid protesters, please raise your hand and get the hell out of here!” Trump said.
