White House communications director Steven Cheung unleashed an insult-filled tirade Wednesday after a progressive content account claimed he had unfollowed two of President Donald Trump’s top advisers on social media.
Cheung, who also serves as assistant to the president, lashed out at Headquarters News after the outlet suggested he had distanced himself from Chris LaCivita and James Blair following reports that Trump was considering firing the pair.
“Wrong, you slope-brained retards,” Cheung wrote on X. “I know it sucks to be Kamala-rejects, but the truth is that I unfollow deactivated WH/47 accounts.”
The explosive response came after Headquarters News posted that Cheung had unfollowed LaCivita and Blair after Trump threw them “under the bus” and threatened to “terminate” them.
But the progressive outlet wasn’t going to let Cheung have the last word.
In a mocking response, Headquarters News fired back with a photograph of the White House communications director and a two-word caption: “Slope brain.”
The online feud came amid scrutiny of LaCivita and Blair over their outside consulting work, including a reported trip to the Balkans that caught Trump’s attention.
Cheung’s derogatory term also drew condemnation, including from former Obama campaign staffer Tim Fuller, who blasted the White House official.
“Official White House staffer using an incredibly hurtful word for millions of disabled Americans,” he wrote Wednesday on X. “What an awful group of people running the Administration. Just the meanest and most cruel people.”
