Veteran porn star ‘kills your fantasy’ with honest answers about the industry —and whether size really matters

Former adult film star Lindsay Brooke is laying her story bare — and sharing the “fantasy-killing” truth about the porn industry.

Brooke, who quit the skin business in 2024, took to Threads with an open invitation to “ask me anything.”

And like her past XXX work, Brooke’s answers are shockingly revealing.

“I was sitting on the couch going through my DMs on IG and just looking at the random questions and statements people feel comfortable sending me,” wrote Brooke, who spent more than a decade and a half making explicit content.

“I think I have something written across my forehead that since I did porn I am open to talk about sex, your relationship, your body, my body, etc,”

The avalanche of inquiries inspired her to take the conversation to the open forum of Threads.

Research suggests that around 40 million Americans visit porn sites regularly, with a staggering 28,258 people tuning in every second.

“I spent 17 years inside the adult industry. What do you actually want to know?” she asked.

Predictably, questions ranged from curious to cringe.

When asked what the best and worst parts of shooting a scene were, Brooke replied with the following mic drop.

“The best part? Um. Being done. Worst part: f—ing a complete stranger.”

Brooke also shared that she made roughly $1,500 per scene, noting the figure is “not enough.” When asked how often she shot scenes, Brooke said it varied from year to year, starting with every day for the first decade and then filming only as necessary for the rest of her time in the industry.

One inquisitor asked if the industry is truly as toxic as everyone says, or if there are actually good places to work.

“There’s good and bad in every job. There are great companies I loved working for, and others whose sets I walked off,” Brooke reported.

When asked whether AI will take over the industry, Brooke said it’s probable, and added her hot take on deepfakes: “I’m not for anyone using someone’s likeness without consent. Taking a woman’s face without her yes is the same old problem with new tools.”

On the lighter subjects, a fluids-curious commenter asked, “Does eating/drinking pineapples beforehand really help with the flavor?”

Brooke’s answer: “Eating clean, exercising, drinking water, taking care of yourself overall does. But I have heard this cheat way too; I don’t know. Does it?”

Does size matter?

“Yes and no. That’s the truth.”

What do adult stars do if they’re menstruating during filming?

“Put a sponge in.”

Is the pension any good, and does the industry match your 401(k) contributions?

“No.”

How is her mental health today?

“Solid. Thank God.”

One hopeful creep queried, “From the moment you arrive to before the scene, what’s the feeling? Are you so hornry you cannot think?”

Brooke replied:

“No, I am dissociating. I am taking narcotics. I am leaving myself behind and stepping into a role,” admitting that she began using drugs as a mechanism to handle the realities of the job.

“The drugs made it easier. I used them not to feel while on set and used them to feel while at home.”

A mother of three, Brooke attempted to leave the industry after the birth of each of her children, but financial pressure coupled with the stigmatization of her work history kept pulling her back.

In 2024, on the verge of signing yet another contract, Brook swallowed a lethal dose of pills.

Miraculously, she survived.

“I should be dead. That’s not drama. That’s pharmacology,” she said.

Sober ever since, Brooke referenced the incident in response to a commenter who asked when she knew she had to leave the industry.

“I wanted to get out from the moment I started. I didn’t know how to get out. I got out because I couldn’t get high enough to sign another deal. I begged God on that hotel room floor. Take me out or take me over.”

Since leaving the adult industry, Brooke has committed herself to educating others about the realities of it. She reposted the Q&A on her Substack with a powerful postscript meant for men:

“The entire industry is built off illusions; women don’t actually want men to do everything we portray in the movies. Women don’t want to f–k the worker that showed up to fix her sink. Let alone have an orgy with her stepmother or friends.”

She added that porn is designed to “siphon” essence and energy and disconnect viewers from their true selves.

Indeed, a 2015 study found that men who frequently viewed porn had less gray matter in the brain’s area responsible for motivation and decision-making.

Heavy consumers of X-rated content were also less responsive to sexual stimuli overall, likely due to desensitization.

Research also shows that regular porn users often report higher rates of depression, diminished quality of life, and overall worse mental health compared to those who steer clear of it.

“The more dysregulated you are, the tighter the machine’s grip on you,” Brooke warned.

“I got out … why are you still in it?”
