Tesla CEO Elon Musk broke up with the mother of four of his children “with no warning,” she said in a post that revealed their private texts.
Shivon Zilis, a tech executive, announced the split Friday in a post on X noting that he had un-followed her. She also shared a screenshot of what she presented as one of their last text exchanges, which mentions details of a White House dinner with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
“It’s hard to go from in love to let go in a week with no warning, but that’s just how it is sometimes,” Zilis wrote.
An automated account called Big Tech Alert reported hours before her post that Musk had stopped following Zilis on X. Zilis shared that alert in her statement.
“Given the tumultuous nature of his early life, his often tortured soul, and how hard he fights for humanity I wanted him to feel the deepest and most stable form of love this world can provide,” she wrote.
“We were always his safe space,” Zilis continued. “A place where all of us were overjoyed to see him and one that was always full of happiness and love, not war, in contrast to his otherwise militant existence.”
“[T]here is a lot of loss, but luckily we created four beautiful little loves of my life,” she added. “I do hope and pray he and I can be great friends and coparents.”
The pair’s twins, Strider and Azure, were born in 2021, according to People. Their daughter, Arcadia, followed in 2024, and the birth of their son, Seldon, was announced in early 2025.
Zilis is one of four women who have had Musk’s 14 children, Courthouse News reported in May, when she testified in his lawsuit against OpenAI. She told the court that their relationship was platonic when Musk offered to be a sperm donor so she could become a mother, but that it had since become romantic.
“I’m hurting, but care deeply about E and will always be cheering for his happiness. God speed, Elon, the world is lucky to have you,” Zilis wrote near the end of her post.
The screenshot attached to her post shows a conversation with a contact saved as “E.”
“It was really wonderful to see you for breakfast. Love you very much,” Zilis wrote in one message.
“Love you too,” the contact replied just after 11 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 24, according to the screenshot’s timestamp.
“I didn’t realize that this Xi dinner included significant other (Beijing one did not) or I would have invited you,” the contact added.
“Aw, that means so much to me. Thank you,” Zilis replied, adding a heart emoji.
Musk was among more than 130 guests at a White House state dinner honoring Xi that Thursday, according to The Irish Times.
“New day, new life,” Zilis wrote on X without context three days later, on Sept. 27, People reported.
“Curious what the traditional family values and marriage promotion people make of this,” political writer Matthew Yglesias wrote on X after Zilis announced the split.
“Looks like Elon has fired his principal breeder,” disinformation researcher Dave Troy wrote on X.
“This tracks with the kind of treatment [Ashley St. Clair] describes in [documentary filmmaker Alex Gibney’s] Elon musk movie,” political commentator Molly Jong-Fast wrote on X.
St. Clair, a conservative influencer, is the mother of Musk’s child, Romulus, San Diego radio station KOGO reported, citing paternity test results obtained by The Wall Street Journal.
Musk’s representatives did not immediately respond to People’s requests for comment, the outlet said.
