Meghan Markle, the actor, is back. After eight years away from a film set, the 44-year-old Meghan is reportedly making her Hollywood comeback in Close Personal Friends, directed by Jason Orley and costarring Lily Collins and Brie Larson.
According to People, Meghan was on the set of the Amazon MGM Studios production, which also stars Jack Quaid and Henry Golding, on Wednesday, November 5. “She has a small part,” a source told the outlet. “She seemed very relaxed and happy. She introduced herself to everyone and was very sweet and down-to-earth.”
The Sun initially broke the news that Meghan would return to the screen. A source told the tabloid that this is a “massive moment” for Meghan, one that “signifies a return to doing what she truly loves.” Per The Sun’s source, Meghan has been “swamped with offers” to return to the screen, but Close Personal Friends was the project that felt right. “It is Meghan’s way of gently putting her toe back in the water and seeing how she enjoys being back on set,” the source told The Sun. “Everyone involved is super excited and have been sworn to secrecy about her involvement.”
Close Personal Friends will tell the story of two lovers who meet a celebrity couple on a trip to Santa Barbara, California—which, coincidentally, is where Meghan has been living with her husband, Prince Harry, and their two children, Archie and Lilibet, since stepping back from the royal family in 2020. “Prince Harry is, of course, really supportive and quite simply wants Meghan to do whatever brings her joy,” added The Sun’s source.
Before marrying Harry in 2018, Meghan played Rachel Zane for seven seasons in the cult-hit series Suits, which she still describes as “a time capsule.” “I still have the pencil skirt from the first episode! That’s the one thing I kept,” she told People in March.
According to People, on this go-round, Meghan will be playing herself. Shooting on Close Personal Friends began in London in September, and is currently underway across the Atlantic in California. The feature film is scheduled for release in 2027.
