After a period of warm weather this weekend, a storm is expected to move over Southern California late next week, bringing a chance of moderate rain to the region.

“We start you out a little cooler this morning (Thursday), grab a sweater, but keep in mind you won’t need it by afternoon,” KTLA Meteorologist Henry DiCarlo said.

Temperatures in the Los Angeles area are expected to return to average on Thursday after cooler conditions to start the week.

One or two storms may move over the region for the latter half of next week and bring measurable rain, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

“Our earliest shot is Wednesday evening, but even then it’ll be on the very light side,” Henry said. “Thursday and Friday, we get a better chance of rain.”

The NWS said the storms could bring between one and three inches of rain to Southern California, but there is also a small chance that no rain falls.

“But, before we get there, let’s focus on the weekend … a warm weekend,” Henry said.

Building high pressure will bring warmer, drier conditions through Saturday and Sunday.

Above-average temperatures are expected to continue into early next week, according to the NWS.
