Detectives with the Los Angeles Police Department are asking for the public’s help in identifying additional victims of a man who reportedly used stolen personal identification information to fraudulently rent apartments in Los Angeles.

In a news release posted to X, investigators with LAPD’s Commercial Crimes Division say the man, known only as Igor, applied to rent two apartments, one in Hollywood and another in the Larchmont area.

“The suspect used other individuals’ personal identification information to complete rental applications and provided counterfeit cashier’s checks to property management companies as part of the process,” police said.

The man is described as a Black adult male with dreadlocks and a beard or goatee.

“Detectives are releasing the suspect’s photo because they believe there may be additional victims, including rental and property management companies that may have been targeted,” the release noted.

Anyone who believes they were victimized by the man or has information about this investigation is urged to contact LAPD’s Commercial Crimes Division Detective Juan Campos at 213-486-5995 or by email at [email protected].

Those wishing to remain anonymous can call the L.A. Regional Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-222-8477 or leave tips online at www.lacrimestoppers.com.
