New York City’s socialist Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani is the “new face” of the Democratic Party and his “radical left” policies may be coming to a swing district near you, the House Republican’s campaign arm warned voters Wednesday.
In a new ad targeting vulnerable congressional Democrats ahead of the 2026 midterm elections, the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) argued the seemingly rudderless Democrat Party has fully embraced socialism in the wake of the “radical left earthquake” that was Mamdani’s electoral victory in the Big Apple.
“This is the future House Democrats want. And your city could be next,” the narrator of the 30-second spot warns, as images of House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries are juxtaposed next to Mamdani.
Jeffries (D-NY) begrudgingly endorsed Mamdani last week, four months after the socialist’s shock victory in New York City’s Democratic mayoral primary.

The ad plays up Mamdani’s past support for defunding the New York City Police Department (NYPD) and having social workers respond to mental health disturbances and domestic violence calls, rather than police.
Mamdani “built his movement on defunding the police and abolishing ICE,” the narrator states.
“Now the socialists are celebrating. They call it progress. We call it chaos.”
The digital ad, set to play in 49 battleground districts, calls on voters to “Stop socialism. Stop Democrats. Vote Republican.”
“Vulnerable Democrats can’t hide from Zohran Mamdani,” Mike Marinella, spokesman for the NRCC, told the Post.
“They will be forced to explain to their voters why they’ve embraced Mamdani’s madness,” Marinella added. “He is their entire brand and the new face of the party.”

Despite his last-minute endorsement of Mamdani, Jeffries has dismissed claims the socialist state assemblyman is the future of his party.
“No, I think the future of the Democratic Party is going to fall, as far as we’re concerned, relative to the House Democratic Caucus and members who are doing great work all across the country,” Jeffries told CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday.
The Brooklyn Democrat went on to praise Mamdani for being “relentlessly focused on addressing the affordability crisis” while acknowledging “there will be areas of agreement and areas of principled disagreement.”
The NRCC will push the new ad in 29 House Districts currently controlled by Democrats, including New York Reps. Tom Suozzi and Laura Gillen, and in 20 GOP-controlled House districts, according to Fox News.
Democrats need to pick up just three seats in the midterms to win back the majority in the House of Representatives.
