Police are investigating a brazen, broad daylight attempted home invasion in Sherman Oaks where gunshots were fired Wednesday afternoon, authorities confirmed to KTLA.
Officers with the Los Angeles Police Department’s Van Nuys Division responded to a “hot prowl home invasion robbery” in the 14800 block of Otsego Street, near the intersection of Willis Avenue just before 1 p.m.
The preliminary investigation revealed three suspects, described only as Black adult males, attempted to enter the home while the homeowner was at the residence and shots were fired.
At this time, it’s unclear if the gunfire was from any of the robbery suspects or the homeowner.
The suspects were last seen fleeing eastbound on Otsego Street toward Sepulveda Boulevard in a gray Jeep Cherokee.
Footage posted to the Citizen App in the aftermath of the attempted home invasion showed several police cruisers at the intersection, with a portion of Otsego Street cordoned off with yellow crime scene tape.
More than a half-dozen officers were seen on the street, presumably to question possible witnesses and gather any potential home surveillance footage that could be used as evidence in the investigation.
There were no reports of any injuries.
