PHOENIX — Greenlight Communities, an attainable workforce housing developer, will break ground on its newest rental project in Mesa this week.
Construction on Cabana Mesa Drive, located near Mesa and University drives, will kick off Thursday, with a formal groundbreaking at 9 a.m.
“Breaking ground on Cabana Mesa Drive represents another important step in Greenlight’s mission to deliver attainable housing across the Valley,” Greenlight Communities Co-Founder and Senior Partner Patricia Watts said in a press release. “This site connects residents to the heart of Mesa’s downtown, giving them access to transit, jobs and amenities while keeping rental rates within reach.”
The groundbreaking comes less than two months after Greenlight announced it had purchased the land for the apartment complex.

The development is being built on 6 acres of land and will have a total of 180 apartments.
Cabana Mesa Drive will offer a mix of studio, one- and two-bedroom floor plans to prospective residents.
Each apartment will have quartz countertops, stainless steel appliances and in-unit laundry.
In addition, the apartment complex will have a variety of amenities, including a resort-style pool, fitness center, clubhouse, dog park and community spaces.
Construction on the Mesa rental project is expected to be done in early 2027.
The Mesa rental project will be Greenlight’s 19th development in the Grand Canyon State and its third in the East Valley city.
Cabana Mesa Drive is being developed in conjunction with PGIM, a real estate investment and financing business operated by Prudential Financial, Inc.
