A motorcyclist who was found on the 15 Freeway had lost control and crashed, investigators say.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department stated Wednesday morning that deputies, along with officials from the Victorville Fire Department, California Highway Patrol and American Medical Response, were called out to a traffic crash on Tuesday at 4:54 p.m.
Upon arriving at the scene, West Frontage Road north of the intersection with E Street in Victorville, a man was found laying on the west side of the freeway.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, SBSD said.
The preliminary investigation revealed the motorcyclist, whose name has yet to be released pending notification of next of kin, was heading north on West Frontage Road when he lost control of his Yamaha YZF-R7 and crashed before ending up on the freeway.
It was not known right away what caused him to lose control.
Google Maps images show that, on most of the frontage road, a thin wire fence and a patch of dirt, rocks and brush separates the roadway and the freeway lanes.
Anyone with information or who may have witnessed the crash is asked to contact Deputy J. Tomasello or Deputy C. Cherms at the Victorville Police Station by calling 760-241-2911.
