EXCLUSIVE: Don McGregor is set to land the top international TV distribution post at Paramount, we understand.
The move would reunite the veteran sales exec with his former NBCUniversal colleague Kevin McLellan, who is President of Global Content Distribution and International Media at Paramount.
The deal isn’t yet fully locked in, but we understand he is set to land the top TV sales role at Skydance‘s Paramount. We’ve reached out to Paramount for comment, and we’ll update the story as details come in.
Last week, we were first to report that Lisa Kramer, President of International TV Licensing at Paramount Global Content Distribution, had been among those hit by last week’s layoffs at the Hollywood studio
Sources say McGregor has been consulting for Paramount for the past year, and we understand he met with several buyers and producers at MIPCOM Cannes to explain the plan for the future. McGregor is set to report to McLellan.
McGregor spent 21 years at NBCU, rising to EVP level before exiting in 2023. He then launched his own business, Flywheel Media, which is attached to upcoming feature films such as The Angry Birds Movie 3, the animated pic Paramount is releasing in January 2027.
Flywheel has a staff of 11, not including McGregor or co-founder Dan Chuba, and it’s not clear whether the company will fold into Paramount or remain independent.
Paramount sells the likes of Yellowstone and its spin-offs, and in Cannes was heavily visible through its launch of Boston Blue, the latest series in the Blue Bloods universe.
We’ve contacted Flywheel for comment.
