A veteran New Jersey cop committed suicide in a state park Tuesday, nearly nine months after his arrest for sharing images and videos of himself and his wife having sex alongside their two kids.
Brian DiBiasi, 40, was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in Lower Park in Hopewell Township shortly before 1 a.m., police confirmed to The Post.
Both DiBiasi and his wife, Elizabeth, also a police officer, lost their law enforcement jobs following their troubling February arrests.
DiBiasi had been facing four criminal counts, including possessing fewer than 1,000 images of child sexual abuse; distributing images of child sexual abuse; and possessing images of child sexual abuse with the intent to distribute.
The former cops were both charged with engaging in sexual conduct that would debauch the morals of a child.
His wife is shocked, said her attorney, Jerome Ballarotto, adding she was wholly unaware of her husband’s incest fetish and actions.
“Nobody saw this coming,” Ballarotto told The Post. “Brian’s case wasn’t that bad, because what he did was not good, but it wasn’t nearly as serious as what he was accused of doing.
“This could have been worked out.”
In early January, DiBiasi shared 36 media files containing nude pictures and videos of his wife, allegedly with their two young sons nearby, authorities alleged. Investigators also accessed chat logs where DiBiasi allegedly “mentioned children being present while he and his wife had sex.”
DiBiasi had been part of an online fetish group, and used an artificial intelligence program to generate the perverse images he later shared with the group, sources told The Post.
He was never formally indicted, as prosecutors were still investigating the allegations, sources said.
Ballarotto said he is not sure what DiBiasi’s suicide will mean for the case, but he anticipates his client will be cleared soon.
DiBiasi served with the Hamilton police for 21 years, while his wife spent 18 years working for the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office.
