LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — An Athens man has been convicted of multiple drug charges in Limestone County.

Jefferey Dewayne Madry, 37, of Athens, was convicted of Trafficking Methamphetamine, Trafficking Cocaine, Certain Persons Prohibited from Carrying a Firearm, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of Marijuana.

The conviction stems from a incident where Madry was arrested during November 2019. Authorities say that Madry was the main supplier and was busted during a months -long investigation. Deputies in Limestone County added that the drug bust was “one of the largest” Limestone County has ever seen.

Limestone County District Attorney Brian Jones issued the following statement:

“I am very pleased with the verdict. Jeffrey Madry will no longer be peddling poison on the streets of Limestone County for a very long time. The District Attorney’s Office would like to thank the jury for their attention, patience, and dedication to their civic duty during the three-day trial. We would also like to thank the Sheriff’s Office, ALEA, and the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for their hard work and dedication to our community. As law enforcement agencies, we will continue to strive to catch and convict drug dealers in our community.”

Sheriff Joshua McLaughlin also commended the teamwork that led to the conviction:

“I want to commend the work of our Investigators, SWAT Team, ALEA Special Agents, the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences, and the District Attorney’s Office for the successful prosecution in this case. It’s also important to note that, while out on bond for these charges, our Narcotics Unit, Athens Police, and the FBI arrested Madry earlier this year for trafficking meth and distributing cocaine again. This additional case remains pending. We remain committed to the fight against drugs in our community and will continue to pursue justice against anyone who exposes our loved ones to such dangerous narcotics.”

Madry’s sentencing is scheduled for December 17, 2025.
