ATHENS, Ala. (WHNT) — The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency has announced the Limestone County Driver License Office will be relocating to a larger facility in Athens.

ALEA says the current location, 100 South Clinton Street will close on Friday, Dec. 12 at 4 p.m. The new office, located at 503 South Jefferson Street, Suite A, will open on Wednesday, Dec. 17 at 8 a.m.

“We are incredibly grateful to the Limestone County Commission for their continued support and partnership. This move will allow us to better accommodate the growing number of customers we serve each day, while improving efficiency and comfort for everyone who visits,” Director of ALEA’s Driver License Division Holley Cook said.

The new facility will be larger, more accessible and offer more convenience for Athens community members. ALEA says the new office will have a larger service area, dedicated waiting space and increased parking.

“As communities across Alabama grow, ALEA remains committed to meeting their needs through strategic investments in facilities, technology and customer service. The new Athens office reflects that commitment and our strong partnership with local leaders,” ALEA Secretary Hal Taylor said.

During the closure, ALEA asks for customers to use ALEA’s online driver license services for renewals, replacements and other transactions.
