HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Some of the coldest air so far this season will filter into the region, supporting the potential for patchy frost by Halloween morning.

A strong upper-level low will track east into the Great Lakes Region by early Thursday. This weather setup will allow for a trough to dig into the jet stream. Cooler and drier air will begin to filter south into the Deep South starting Thursday morning. Skies will be mostly cloudy early Thursday, with a gradual decrease in cloud cover expected late in the day. Winds will be breezy, with gusts around 25 mph.

As drier air filters in, mostly clear skies look to prevail into Friday, allowing temperatures to plummet into the upper 30s!

The low temperature by Friday morning will be roughly 10 degrees below average. Some of the sheltered valley areas will have the potential of seeing their first frost of the season!

Cool But Sunny Halloween:

Halloween afternoon will bring temperatures in the low 60s with mostly sunny skies. By the time you go trick-or-treating, temperatures will be down into the low 50s and upper 40s, making for a chilly evening of trick-or-treating.
