FLORENCE, Ala. (WHNT) — An 11-year-old child has died after being found unresponsive in his family’s vehicle in Florence.
On Monday afternoon, emergency services responded to Hermitage Place Apartments on Hermitage Drive in Florence regarding an unresponsive person.
Florence Police said that the child was found inside the vehicle which was parked outside of the home. Employees of the complex began lifesaving measures until emergency services arrived at the scene.
Authorities told News 19 that lifesaving efforts continued, and the child was transported to the North Alabama Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Florence Police says that the child was transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for an autopsy. He was enrolled in the Florence City School System.
Florence City Schools provided the following statement:
“At this time, I can say that we have grief counselors to offer support for students, faculty, and staff who are affected by this loss.”
