A pair of men in their twenties were arrested for an early-morning robbery at a CVS Pharmacy in Ventura County over the weekend.

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office stated in a community alert that, at 5:12 a.m. on Saturday, deputies were dispatched to the CVS on Carmen Drive in Camarillo after a store employee reported a robbery.

“A store employee reported that two male suspects had demanded cash from the register and threatened to harm her if she did not comply,” VCSO’s alert reads.

While one of the suspects implied that he was armed, the employee did not see a weapon, VCSO said.

The suspects were able to get away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Upon deputies’ investigation, they confirmed a robbery occurred and obtained “detailed” descriptions of the two suspects, who were apprehended without incident within minutes after being found behind a nearby motel.

The two men were identified as 24-year-old Zaire Mclean and 22-year-old Jonathan Rios. Both were arrested for robbery and conspiracy and booked in the Pre-Trial Detention Center.

VCSO noted that while Camarillo is generally a “safe” community, the sense of safety is “occasionally exploited by the criminal element,” and thus they thanked deputies and members of the public for their help and cooperation.

“The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office commends the quick-thinking actions of the responding deputies whose coordination and decisive response brought this incident to a safe and successful resolution,” VCSO said. “The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank members of the public for their ongoing support and diligence in providing information that assists our agency in solving crimes. We are better at what we do because of our community partnerships.”
