Fox News anchor Bret Baier addressed a report that CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss expressed interest in him coming over to the network as she seeks to put her mark on the news division and CBS Evening News.

On Meghan McCain‘s Citizen McCain show on 2WAY, Baier said, “I’m flattered by all the press and everything like that, but I’m in a multi-year contract with Fox. I don’t know where everything’s going. I’m signed onto Fox, very happy at Fox and we’ll see what happens at the end of that. But it’s interesting to see all the press about it.”

Baier’s contract with Fox News runs through 2028.

Status reported last week that Weiss, who was named to her new job overseeing CBS News earlier this month, has spoken to associates about Baier, perhaps as anchor of the evening broadcast. Weiss, a opinion columnist who launched the center-right Free Press, is being heavily scrutinized in her initial weeks at the network, and whether her moves signal a CBS News shift to the right.

When it sought FCC approval to merge with Paramount Global, Skydance committed to hiring an ombudsman to take viewer complaints. The person chosen, Kenneth Weinstein, comes from the Hudson Institute, a rightward think tank. In hiring Weiss, Paramount also purchased Free Press, reportedly for $150 million.

Baier has anchored Fox News’ Special Report since 2009 and joined the network in 1998.

Earlier on Monday, John Dickerson announced that he would be departing CBS News at the end of the year. He has co-anchored CBS Evening News since January and has been with the network for 16 years.
