LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — The Limestone County Sheriff’s Office said a man was arrested after he called 911, made threats toward his ex-girlfriend and ran from deputies.

Caleb Justin Chriswell is charged with false reporting to law enforcement and attempting to elude, but authorities say additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues.

At approximately 11:40 a.m. on Friday, deputies with the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 18000 block of Highway 99 regarding a subject “who had called 911 and made threats to kill his ex-girlfriend.”

LCSO said that when deputies arrived, the suspect ran on foot into a wooded area north of Highway 99 and south of Edgewood Road.

K9 Hoss and the Drone Unit were deployed by Sheriff Josh McLaughlin to assist with the search.

The sheriff’s office, using K9 Hoss, was able to track north in the wooded area and successfully locate Chriswell approximately one mile from the initial scene.

LCSO said that Chriswell was taken into custody without incident.

“Today’s response is a testament to the teamwork and dedication our deputies bring to protecting this county. Everyone involved, from patrol deputies to the Drone Unit and investigators, played an important role in ensuring a safe outcome. Deputy Johnson and K9 Hoss did an incredible job leading the track, and we couldn’t be prouder of their efforts. Great work to the entire team and a big ‘good boy’ to Hoss!” Sheriff McLaughlin said.
