EXCLUSIVE: The Philadelphia Film Society has selected two-time Oscar-nominee Colman Domingo as the recipient of this year’s Lumière Award.

Domingo joins previous winners including M. Night Shyamalan, Bruce Willis, Adam McKay, and Lee Daniels — all of whom have been recognized for their cinematic achievements and their connection to the City of Brotherly Love.

“From his acclaimed award-winning work on Broadway and television to his back-to-back Academy Award-nominated performances in Rustin (which screened in the 2023 Philadelphia Film Festival) and Sing Sing (which screened in the 2024 Philadelphia Film Festival SpringFest), and now his magnetic turn as DJ Fred Temple in Dead Man’s Wire which he also executive produced,  Colman’s impressive ability to channel raw emotion, compassion, conviction, intensity, humor, and charisma into each of his roles is truly remarkable,” said Andrew Greenblatt, CEO of the Philadelphia Film Society. “Also a true native Philadelphian, graduating from Overbrook High and Temple University, I couldn’t be more excited to honor Colman Domingo with our 2025 Lumière Award.”

The Lumière Award is presented annually to a film industry professional whose career reflects artistic excellence and a meaningful connection to Philadelphia’s creative community.

In addition to Domingo’s honor, the Philadelphia Film Society presented the Audrey Evans Impact Award for Social Change to Christy Salters and the film Christy.
