Just three days after the final debate in the New York City mayor’s race, voters can start making their choices official. New Yorkers will be able to vote early from Saturday, Oct. 25, to Sunday, Nov. 2, or they can vote on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 4.
In addition to voting for the next mayor — the main candidates are Zohran Mamdani, Andrew M. Cuomo and Curtis Sliwa — New Yorkers will have the chance to weigh in on other races, including for City Council, public advocate and Manhattan district attorney. There are also a range of ballot measures up for a vote.
Here’s a short guide for New Yorkers who plan to cast an early ballot.
When can I vote?
Registered voters can cast their early ballots starting Saturday during certain hours that vary by day:
-
Oct. 25 through Oct. 27: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
-
Oct. 28 and Oct. 29: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
-
Oct. 30: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
-
Oct. 31: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
-

You can also check this page on the Board of Elections’ website for a chart with opening and closing times.
Where do I vote?
Polling places can change from election to election, and your early voting site may be different from your Election Day site, so it’s best to check before heading out.
To find your early voting site, enter the address where you are registered to vote on the Board of Elections’ website. It will tell you your designated polling place. You’ll also find a preview of your ballot.
Can I still register to vote?
Yes, you have a few more days — but the clock is ticking. The last day to register to vote in this election is Saturday, Oct. 25. You can do so online, in person or by mail. If you are unsure whether you’re registered, you can check online or call 1-866-868-3692.
Is it too late to vote by mail?
No, you have until Saturday, Oct. 25 to request an early or absentee mail-in ballot. You can apply online or by mail by that deadline. You can also apply in person at your county board of elections until Nov. 3. Early voters can drop their ballots at an early voting site from Saturday, Oct. 25, to Sunday, Nov. 2.
Can I wait to vote on Election Day?
You sure can. Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 4.
