12 arrested in connection with yearslong California-wide cargo theft ring: deputies

A dozen people were arrested in connection with a cargo theft ring that spanned the entire state and lasted for more than four years.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department released information on Tuesday stating that, between March 2021 and June 2025, members of the Singh Organization acquired or fraudulently used real trucking companies to bid on authentic shipping contracts.

No further details surrounding the nature of the Singh Organization was disclosed.

Upon winning the bids, the company would take possession of the freight; however, rather than deliver them to the right destination, they diverted and stole them.

The freight targeted most by the organization included “primarily electronics, appliances and other high-value consumer goods,” deputies said.

“The stolen cargo was later distributed through intermediates or black market channels, with an estimated loss in the millions of dollars,” authorities added.

Multiple thefts were committed across California, but SBSD did not reveal exactly where. What the department did reveal, however, was that “multiple thefts” were committed in San Bernardino County. Thus, SBSD partnered with a bevy of law enforcement officials to aid in a federal indictment – assisting agencies included the FBI’s Riverside Inland Violent Crime Suppression Task Force, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department, the Fontana Police Department and the California Highway Patrol’s Cargo Theft Interdiction Program, among others.

As a result of the law enforcement operation, which took place in San Bernardino County and across the state in other cities, resulted in the arrests of 12 people:

  • Paramvir Singh, 29, of Rancho Cucamonga
  • Sandeep Singh, 31, of San Bernardino
  • Mandeep Singh, 42, of Bakersfield
  • Ranjodh Singh, 38, of Bakersfield
  • Gurnaik Singh Chauhan, 40, of Fontana
  • Harpreet Singh, 26, of Rancho Cucamonga
  • Elgar Hernandez, 27, of Fontana
  • Arshpreet Singh, 27, of Sacramento
  • Vikramjeet Singh, 30, of Fontana
  • Himmat Singh Khalsa, 28, of Renton, Washington
  • Narayan Singh, 27, of Fontana

All 12 were federally indicted on charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, conspiracy to commit theft from interstate or foreign shipments and criminal forefeiture.
